It was last year April when the Buffalo Bills made the blockbuster trade of sending wide receiver Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans. The writing was on the wall for quite sometime and the fact that Brandon Beane, who usually goes a great job at handling the salary cap, decided to take on a $30 million+ dead cap hit to get rid of Diggs should tell you how the relationship unfolded.
The Bills sent Stefon Diggs, a 2024 6th-round pick, and a 2025 5th-round pick in exchange for a second round pick in 2025 (No. 56 overall). While the Bills gave up more, they got back a second round pick which was quite surprising. Well now, we now have the details of that trade after the Bills’ most recent pick.
Details from Stefon Diggs trade is finally revealed from Bills' side
There have been a bunch moving parts with the Bills when it comes to the Diggs trade. The Bills packaged the 56th pick in a trade to move up to No. 41 to select defensive tackle T.J. Sanders. They sent the No. 56 pick overall to the Bears who used that selection on Boston Collefe offensive lineman Ozzy Trapilo.
So essentially, the Bills traded away Diggs and two late round picks for a pick that helped them land a hopeful defensive stud in Sanders. As part of the trade that brought Sanders to Buffalo, the Bills acquired No. 72 and No. 240 from the Bears. With pick no. 72, the Bills selected edge rusher Landon Jackson. Then at No. 240 to end the Bills' draft class, Buffalo drafted Maryland wide receiver Kaden Prather.
The trade that took place over a year ago is now officially complete. Buffalo sent Diggs away, but got themsleves two defensive impactful players and a wide reciever that could be a hidden gem.
Again, it was a matter of when, not if the Bills would move on from Diggs. However, it was very surprising that the Bills would take on the $30 million+ dead cap hit but again, it clearly shows how things were going downhill between the Bills and Diggs.
