The Buffalo Bills had a need to address the wide receiver room coming into the NFL Draft. Their first couple of picks focused on the defense and adding more protection for Josh Allen. While wide receiver wasn’t the team’s biggest need, Brandon Beane had to bring in more receiver help. After taking care of other positions first, the Bills finally landed a receiver in Skyler Bell out of UConn.

The Bills had interest in Bell prior to the draft per Ryan Talbot, and now they land him to add to the offense. This was a huge addition for Buffalo’s offense for years to come. Buffalo now has Bell to go with D.J. Moore, Khalil Shakir, Keon Coleman, and Joshua Palmer. While the Bills should still be looking to add more help, getting Bell is a sneaky addition that is being overlooked.

Typically, 4th-round picks don’t have a ton of hype around them but a former All-Pro wide receiver Steve Smith Sr. gave huge praise to the Bills drafting Bell. Smith called Bell his “favorite wide receiver in the draft.”

Steve Smith Jr. is major believer in Skyler Bell (and fans should be thrilled)

Bell has a lot of traits that teams want to see out of their receivers. He can line up on the outside or in the slot. He can make defenders lose balance quickly, and Bell has the ability to make plays in the open field. With an offense that is run by Joe Brady, Bell is going to provide a new dynamic for the offense which should open up other things.

Wide receiver has been a big problem for Buffalo the last couple of seasons. Brandon Beane has faced a ton of criticism the last two years as fans have felt that he has not taken the wide receiver room as seriously as he should have been. Even though Bell doesn’t solve every single problem, he certainly is another solid addition that Buffalo will have for the next four seasons on a very cheap rookie contract.

To get the praise that Bell got from Steve Smith Sr., fans should be fired up to know that one of the most physical receivers that has ever played this game is a fan of Bell and what he can bring to Buffalo. Josh Allen should be smiling big with the Bell pick and very soon, he will get to show Bills Mafia exactly what he can do.
