The biggest knock on Josh Allen is that he hasn’t reached the Super Bowl yet. At the same time, it’s extremely unfair to judge him on that since he is not the main reason why the Bills haven’t reached the Super Bowl. Anyone that watches Bills games knows that the defense has been the main issue in the postseason. It’s part of the reason why the Bills fired Sean McDermott.
Both Allen and Lamar Jackson face the criticism of not reaching the Super Bowl. Quarterbacks like Joe Burrow, Sam Darnold, Drake Maye, and Brock Purdy have been to one. It definitely is frustrating for Bills fans seeing this, but that’s the reality.
For as great as Allen has been in the postseason, he doesn’t play defense. With the change in defensive scheme going into 2026, Bills fans are hoping that it’s a huge difference maker for this team. The offense has never been the issue, only the defense.
If there is one quarterback that Allen is always being compared to, it’s Patrick Mahomes. This rivalry is the next closest thing to a Tom Brady vs. Peyton Manning rivalry, and it is always an electric matchup. Allen always gets the best of Mahomes in the regular season, but Mahomes ends up getting the last laugh in the playoffs. Since the 2020 season, the Chiefs have eliminated the Bills four times.
Mahomes and the Chiefs missed the playoffs last season, partially due to the fact that Mahomes tore his ACL. However, they are expected to be back in the postseason moving forward. If both Buffalo and Kansas City make it in the postseason, there is always a very good chance that they will see one another.
Josh Allen prediction has fans hoping it comes true very soon
The Chiefs have been the biggest reason why the Bills fall short of a Super Bowl, which makes fans wonder when Allen will finally get his chance to raise the Lombardi trophy. Former NFL center, Mitch Morse, who played with Allen and Mahomes, was recently asked on NFL Network who he believes will hoist the Lombardi trophy sooner.
Morse gave his praise to Mahomes (which is deserved), but Morse is rolling with Allen to win a Super Bowl sooner before Mahomes wins another one.
“I feel like it’s Josh Allen’s time. Of course there’s a huge change, there’s a huge shift, there’s a culture shift, whatever you want to call it. But the standard is the standard Josh is going to perform to his ability. The only thing that could happen right now, in my opinion, is the defense gets better, give him more opportunities." said Morse.
"I don’t think anyone has scored these past few years more touchdowns, more points, and still lost than the Buffalo Bills. That’s not a knock on any player or any person, it’s just what it is. If this team can bring a little bit of the Jim Leonhard juice that was part of Vance Joseph and the Denver Broncos and bring this over there, I feel like it’s Josh Allen’s time.” Morse added.

Morse is spot on when it comes to the defense. That has been the unit that has let the Bills down. While Allen isn’t perfect, he certainly is not the main reason why the Bills have failed to reach a Super Bowl.
Once Josh Allen proved that he was the franchise quarterback that the team had been missing since Jim Kelly, there have been Super Bowl aspirations for the organizations. However, they needed to fix some of the major issues that the team has faced for many years now. With all of the changes that happened this past offseason, the hope is that the Bills did the right moves in order to achieve the ultimate goal.
