Deebo Samuel to Buffalo would be a gigantic mistake for Bills

Deebo Samuel looks like he is on his way out of San Francisco, but he and the Bills would not be a good match.

Just last week, news broke about two big time players in Myles Garrett and Cooper Kupp about leaving their respective teams in Cleveland and Los Angeles. Garrett requested a trade out of Cleveland in hopes of joining a team that can win a Super Bowl. On the other hand, Kupp announced that the Rams notified him that they would be looking to trade him.

Now we have more breaking news within the NFL about another west coast wide receiver leaving his respective team. San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel has been granted permission to seek a trade out of the organization, per Adam Schefter.

There has been a little bit of tension between Samuel and the 49ers the last couple of seasons. This isn’t the first time that Samuel has been looking to leave San Francisco. Before signing his 3-year extension deal in 2022, Samuel had requested a trade. Now it looks like Samuel is definitely on his way out of the Bay area.

The Buffalo Bills are going to have to be in the market to bring in a wide receiver. As of right now, the Bills are set to lose Amari Cooper and Mack Hollins in free agency. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see Buffalo bring Hollins back, but they just may not be able to afford Cooper if they wanted him back. With that, Brandon Beane is going to have to explore the wide receiver market.

Brandon Beane has to avoid trading for Deebo Samuel from 49ers

There is no denying that Deebo Samuel can be a difference maker for any team he’s on, but with the way Joe Brady operates the Bills offense, it wouldn’t be a good match. Brady is all about spreading the ball around rather than making the offense one dimensional and having it revolve around one guy.

Samuel hasn’t been the same player since his breakout season in 2021 where he had over 1,700 all-purpose yards and 14 total touchdowns. He’s had some injuries over the last couple of years and he had a major drop in production from 2023 to 2024.

Not to mention, Samuel’s cap hit for the 2025 season is set for $15.8 million and the Bills should not be making that kind of financial move right now. Unless the 49ers were willing to take on some of that contract, the Bills are better off going in a different direction instead of bringing in Samuel.
