Each and every season the last couple of years, the Buffalo Bills have had their hearts broken with coming up short of the Super Bowl. They have been knocked out of the AFC championship twice by the Kansas City Chiefs, and the divisional round three times by the Chiefs and the Cincinnati Bengals. During the offseason, fans and analysts discuss what needs to change for the Bills in order for them to get over the hump.
Whether you want to argue it’s on one side of the ball or the other, Buffalo can always make improvements somehow. They may have been gifted an opportunity to make a call down the road to the Cleveland Browns’ front office to see what it would take to get a future Hall of Fame pass rusher Myles Garrett.
It was reported on Monday that Garrett has requested a trade out of Cleveland and put out a statement as well:
CBS Sports analyst Chris Trapasso then proposed a unique trade package for the Bills that included them giving a good amount to acquire Garrett. Essentially, the trade package that the Bills would send to the Browns is edge rusher Greg Rousseau (who the Bills have to pay soon), and two first-round picks in 2025 and 2026.
Bills must do whatever it takes to bring Myles Garrett to Western New York
The Bills have already tried the route of trying to build their roster through the draft. Rarely do they ever make a big trade or sign a free agent to a massive contract. Their last biggest trade where they sent multiple high picks was when they traded with the Minnesota Vikings to acquire Stefon Diggs.
Then in 2022, in the biggest shocker of free agency, Buffalo signed Von Miller to a big six-year deal worth $120 million. It’s rare for Brandon Beane to make these moves but he’s done it before to go all in. Now it’s time for him to do it again by trying to bring Garrett to Buffalo and compete for a championship.
Since 2018, Garrett has double digit sack seasons and is averaging almost 15 sacks per season. The four-time first-team All Pro has been arguably the best pass rusher in the game and he’s too talented to not be in the playoffs.
Buffalo has lacked a true ferocious pass rusher for a long time. Even though Greg Rousseau has been solid the last two seasons, he’s no Myles Garrett. The Bills already have a dynamic quarterback in Josh Allen and now it’s time bring a big time pass rush with Garrett.
Not to mention, the Bills haven’t had an impactful first round pick since Josh Allen. Sure, Ed Oliver has had his moments but he hasn’t been consistent. Beane, you know what you need to do. Call the Browns up and do whatever it takes to make Garrett a Bill.
