We’ve got an AFC East matchup in Week 4 tomorrow in Orchard Park between the Buffalo Bills and New England Patriots.
The Bills are looking to advance to 4-0 for a second consecutive season, while the Patriots are looking to have a bounce back game after their disastrous 35-6 loss last week against the Jaguars, sending them to 1-2 on the season.
Buffalo might be 3-0 on the year, but they have plenty of things to clean up from their first three games, especially on the offense after Week 3's performance against the Chargers. The offense is looking to clean things up from last Sunday, and there are 5 players who have to step up against New England's defense to avoid a trap game situation.
5 Bills on offense that must step up against Patriots in Week 4
TE Dalton Kincaid
After getting off to a hot start in the first two games, Dalton Kincaid was brought back down to Earth against the Chargers. He finished Week 3 with just 2 catches for 38 yards, and he also fumbled the ball after trying to fight for extra yards at one point.
We've said it all along; a healthy Dalton Kincaid is a dangerous one. He will need to find that connection with Josh Allen to keep the Patriots' defense on their heels for all 4 quarters.
RB Ty Johnson
After being out since August with a hamstring injury, Ty Johnson made his 2026 debut in Week 3 for the Bills. He was valuable in the receiving game with 4 catches for 50 yards. At one point, he had a fantastic play where Allen was under heavy pressure, and he got it off to Johnson through the air and he took it the distance. It was called back due to a block in the back penalty. However, the Bills still managed to pick up the first down thanks to Johnson.
While Joe Brady hinted at trying to get Ray Davis more involved on the field, I still believe Johnson will be viewed as the RB2 and he will need to support James Cook out of the backfield.
OL Alec Anderson
There is no doubt that Alec Anderson is a phenomenal north and south blocker on running plays. However, his pass protection has not been the greatest early on this season. He will have to step up that aspect of his game to avoid the Patriots getting interior pressure on Allen.
WR Joshua Palmer
I'll be the first to admit it, I thought Joshua Palmer was going to have his best game as a Bill against the Chargers (who is his old team). However, after having just two total catches in the first two weeks (both going for touchdowns), Palmer was nowhere to be found against LA.
This is a perfect chance for him to bounce back and get involved against the Patriots' secondary. Especially since DJ Moore and Keon Coleman are both still dealing with injuries, Palmer could get some opportunities against New England.
QB Josh Allen
After playing like the MVP the first two games, Josh Allen was humbled big time against the Chargers last Sunday. He had three turnovers, which included two interceptions to DB Genesis Smith. While he did manage to make the plays when needed them in the 4th quarter, Week 3 was a forgetful game for 2024 MVP.
Going up against New England, a team that can rough him up a bit, Allen has to be on point and come out fast to not allow the Patriots to control the tempo of the game. If he does, the Patriots won't stand a chance.
