After last week's letdown against the New England Patriots, the Buffalo Bills need to get right. They have an opportunity to do that against a tough L.A. Rams team, but it won't be easy. Week 5 is set to be another shootout; this time on Monday Night Football. Before we get there, it's time for the Bills final gameday inactives.
Though Buffalo benefits from DE Myles Garrett remaining on the Rams' injured reserve, they have trouble of their own. The Bills are missing both star DL Ed Oliver and WR Joshua Palmer. Oliver took a hit to the knee in Week 4 and failed to practice all week. Mid-week, Palmer went down with a shoulder issue during practice, and is also unavailable.
The rest of the report was mostly clean, with only three other injury designations. DL Landon Jackson, who has excelled in his new position, is questionable. His knee injury is a minor one, and he ramped up in practice throughout the week. The Bills' WR1, D.J. Moore, is questionable with his ongoing shoulder issue.
The team did sign CB Anthony Kendall to the roster from the practice squad to bolster the position, especially since Dee Alford was questionable throughout this week.
Practice Squad Callups
To accomodate for injuries, the Bills elevated two players from the practice squad:
- DL Phidarian Mathis
- WR Trent Sherfield
Phidarian Mathis was set to be rostered before his suspension changed plans. He's an excellent fill-in on gameday.
With the Bills woes at wide receiver, it's no surprise to see Trent Sherfield elevated.
Final Inactives for Gameday
The Bills are ready for their most important matchup yet, as their gameday inactives are here, per the Bills PR team.
-WR DJ Moore
-WR Joshua Palmer
-CB Dee Alford
-OL Ar'maj Reed-Adams
-OL Jude Bowry
-DL Ed Oliver
-DL Landon Jackson
Inactives Breakdown
With the early announcements of DL Ed Oliver and WR Joshua Palmer's inactive status, there were some obvious moves. Rookie WR Skyler Bell makes his first appearance, and DL T.J. Sanders is finally ready to get back on the field.
The Bills had three players listed as questionable in Moore, Alford, and Landon Jackson, but now all three will miss Week 5. The Bills will now rely on a group of Khalil Shakir, Keon Coleman, Skyler Bell, Trent Sherfield, and Greg Dortch to support Josh Allen in the passing game.
Seeing Bowry and Reed-Adams is no surprise, as they have been inactive in every game this season. With the final inactives official, all that's left now is to watch the Bills in primetime and hope that they get back in the win column against the Rams.
