The Buffalo Bills are set to kick things off at home against one of the league's best, as they host the Baltimore Ravens for Sunday Night Football. We're all eager to start the season, but some will start on the inactive list. Before we get there, here's the final Friday injury report. Let's break things down.
Buffalo Bills Injury Report
K Tyler Bass - Groin
Tyler Bass turned a rough 2024 season around, and made some tough shots. But, here's the kicker- He's been struggling with a groin injury for much of the preseason. Buffalo tried out a trio of kickers last week, per Jordan Schultz. They signed 20-year veteran Matt Prater to the practice squad as Bass downgraded to a non-participant on Thursday. He failed to practice on Friday too, and has now been moved to the injured reserve. He will miss the first four games of the season, at minimum.
CB Christian Benford - Groin
The Bills' top cornerback was suffering from a minor groin injury to start the week, but has been a full-go on Thursday and Friday. He will be healthy and active on Sunday night.
DT DeWayne Carter - Achilles
Unfortunately, the former third-round pick suffered an Achilles tear early this week and will miss the season. He was moved to season-ending injured reserve on Thursday.
WR Keon Coleman - Groin
The second groin injury on the report, Keon Coleman was limited in practice all week. It was a flare-up of an injury that occurred early in camp. However, he was a full participant on Friday and should be ready to go for Sunday night.
WR Elijah Moore - Personal
On of the lower receivers on the Buffalo Bills depth chart, Elijah Moore is only on the injury report due to an excused personal absence. He is 100% healthy and ready to play.
WR Khalil Shakir - Ankle
Khalil Shakir suffered a high ankle sprain earlier this offseason, but has rehabbed well. He was a full participant all week, and there are no holds keeping him from taking the field this weekend.
CB Tre'Davious White - Groin
The final of a trifecta of groin injuries, Tre White got lucky. Though he hasn't practiced all week, he avoided a major issue. Many feared the worst when reports came out about White leaving practice on a cart just over a week ago.
Now, though he hasn't got on the field, he has yet to be ruled out. That's not ideal against a powerhouse like the Baltimore Ravens, but fan should be grateful for this dodged bullet. Tre White will be playing, soon, but probably not this weekend. Officially, he's doubtful.
Injury Summary
All-in-all, the Buffalo Bills are dealing with a number of notable injuries to start the season. It's been a curse for the Bills for many seasons, losing key players for marquee matchups. Though there's little chance Tre'Davious White takes the field, fans should be on the lookout for someone like Dorian Strong to potentially make an early impact.
It's official, Bass won't see the field this month. Matt Prater should fit in seamlessly.
At receiver, the Bills should be operating at full strength. Keon Coleman's confidence in his health was enough to assume he's on the field, and Khalil Shakir had no limitations this week. Neither player has a designation for Sunday. The team will need them both to take down Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens.
