Buffalo Bills AFC East rival pushed to trade for struggling AFC quarterback
By Brandon Ray
The Buffalo Bills are the only team in the AFC East that are not a dumpster fire this season. While they had a quick scare in back-to-back weeks early in the season, they have turned things around the last three weeks and have a commanding lead on the division. We are at the point now of thinking about when the Bills will clinch the division, not if they will win it at all.
While improvements can always be made, the Bills don’t have a huge pressing need anywhere on the roster. The same thing can’t be said about the rest of the division.
Going from top to bottom, the AFC East as a whole looks like a joke outside of Buffalo. The Miami Dolphins once had promise to finally take the division away from the Bills but not only did they get blown out in Week 2 against the Bills, Tua Tagovailoa went down with a concussion and didn’t return until last week.
The New York Jets have completely fallen apart this season based on the talent that they have on both sides of the ball. Who would have thought that firing Robert Saleh and promoting defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich as the interim head coach wouldn’t work…it’s safe to say that a lot of people have thought that. With the New England Patriots, most if not all NFL fans knew that they would be closer to the number one pick in 2025 rather than a playoff spot.
As of right now, the Dolphins might only be the true threat to the Bills but it would take an absolute miracle for Miami to somehow steal the AFC East. With the trade deadline approaching next week, the Dolphins have been linked to an AFC quarterback that may need a change of scenery after getting benched this past week.
Alex Ballentine from Bleacher Report created a list of teams that should inquire about trading for Richardson, considering that he is now QB2 behind Joe Flacco and the Dolphins were listed as a suitor.
Dolphins urged to trade for Anthony Richardson from Indianapolis Colts
Let’s face it, the Dolphins are going to need to address the backup quarterback position just because of the injury history to Tua. However, Richardson has already developed a little bit of an injury himself. He has played in only ten career games and now he finds himself on the bench from here on out with the Colts. While it would be very shocking to see the Colts move on from him, anything can happen in the NFL.
The Dolphins have a lot more problems to solve than getting a quarterback. This hypothetical trade is unlikely to happen but it would definitely shake things up in the Dolphins organization.
