NFL Analyst reports Buffalo Bills safety is available for trade

We are getting closer and closer to the NFL trade deadline, which is next Tuesday, November 5th at 4PM. NFL fans should expect to see a couple more moves in addition to what has already transpired the last couple of weeks. Over the last month we have seen Davante Adams get traded to the New York Jets, Amari Cooper go to the Buffalo Bills, and DeAndre Hopkins head out to Kansas City to join the Chiefs.
This past week, we then saw another AFC powerhouse in the Baltimore Ravens make a move to bring in Diontae Johnson from the Carolina Panthers. Teams are loading up before next week’s deadline to make a run at and in the playoffs.
If there is one thing that Bills general manager Brandon Beane does, it is scouting the trade market and pulling off moves that will improve the Bills. However, Beane is also not afraid to send a player out of Buffalo in return for some draft capital.
One of the free agent signings that Beane made this past offseason was signing safety Mike Edwards, who spent time with the Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. After losing Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer, the Bills needed to bring some stability at safety and we all thought that at one point, Edwards would help solidify it. Up to this point, it is the complete opposite.
Edwards has been a healthy scratch throughout this season as the team is relying on Taylor Rapp, Damar Hamlin, and a little bit of Cole Bishop to protect the backend of the defense. With Edwards being a non-contributor, it would make sense that he could be a trade candidate.
Jeremy Fowler from ESPN has reported that Edwards is indeed available and “would like to go somewhere he can play” (subscription required).
Brandon Beane needs to make a move to send Mike Edwards out of Buffalo
It makes perfect sense to trade a player that hasn’t been contributing, let alone even dressing for the game. The only reason why keeping Edwards on the roster would be the smart move is for depth purposes. However, since he is on a one-year deal and won’t be seeing much action this season, Beane should start calling up teams and atleast getting late draft pick capital.
