The NFL Draft came to an end one week ago today and the Buffalo Bills showed fans what directions they went into to fill out the roster. Obviously, the main focus was bringing in more defensive help, especially with the transition of going from a 4-2-5 defense to a 3-4 defense under Jim Leonhard.

Six of the ten selections the Bills made were on defense, which included their first two picks with T.J. Parker and Davison Igbinosun. However, the Bills finally made their first offensive selection on the final day of the draft at No. 102 with drafting offensive lineman Jude Bowry out of Boston College. Bowry was an interesting selection for the Bills because no one thought that Buffalo would draft an offensive line early on in the 4th round.

However, Jordan Dajani from CBS Sports listed the selection of Bowry as Buffalo's best selection. Dajani used NFL Draft analyst Josh Edwards' analysis on Bowry.

"Bowry is a big, powerful offensive lineman who brings versatility to Buffalo's offensive line after the team lost David Edwards in free agency. His better tape may have been in 2024." (Josh Edwards, CBS Sports).

Jude Bowry selection listed as Bills' best 2026 draft pick (and it is surprising)

Don’t get me wrong, Bowry is someone who could be a starter sooner than later. Even though he was primarily a tackle in college, he could very well be pushed inside to guard in the near-future. With both O’Cyrus Torrence and Alec Anderson in contract years in 2026, Bowry may get the chance to jump in and protect Josh Allen quickly.

Versatility is always a great thing to have and because Bowry would be able to play guard and tackle, that factor alone might get him a roster spot for the next four seasons minimum. At the same time, to say that he was Buffalo’s best draft pick might be an overreach simply because of the Skyler Bell selection that the Bills made after drafting Bowry.

I’m not saying that Bowry isn’t a talented player, but Bell should make an immediate contribution to the offense and help Allen down the field in passing situations. He was highly productive at UConn and with his versatility of being able to play inside and out on the line, he should have the biggest impact out of all the rookies, including T.J. Parker.
