It's bad enough that the Buffalo Bills had to deal with the New England Patriots being one of the best teams in the league for 20 years but now, despite the Patriots being one of the worst teams in the league over the past couple of years, they might already be climbing their way into relevancy again. That, of course, is because the Patriots seemed to have struck gold with Drake Maye, who they took third overall in last year's draft.
More Bills news:
It's frustrating for Bills fans that the Patriots had Tom Brady for as long as they did, were in quarterback purgatory for four years, and then seemed to have found their franchise quarterback. It'd be far better if they were stuck in quarterback purgatory for much longer, as the Bills were before Josh Allen was drafted by the franchise.
Well, unfortunately, things could be getting even better for Patriots fans, as there have been reports that the team has "kicked the tires on" potentially trading for Seahawks wide receiver D.K. Metcalf. That report came from Doug Kyed and Andrew Callahan of The Boston Herald.
Bills fans won't like latest reports that could help Drake Maye get even better
To make matters worse here, the Bills reportedly could be looking to add Metcalf to their own offense this offseason. If the Bills are truly interested and the Patriots then swoop in and get him and he becomes a huge playmaker in New England, that'd be a tough pill to swallow for Bills fans.
Metcalf was a second-round pick by the Seahawks in the 2019 draft and has never had fewer than 900 yards receiving since entering the league. He'd be an excellent addition to any team wanting to trade for him and Bills fans should hope that if they don't trade for him, that the Patriots don't either.
Maye didn't have great options available to him during his rookie year, as his leading pass-catcher was tight end Hunter Henry with 674 yards. Metcalf would immediately give him a go-to guy and that's something Bills fans don't want to happen.
