The 2026 season in the NFL is getting closer everyday, but is still some time before we see some football. With the first wave of free agency over along with NFL Draft and now the schedule release, the major events leading up to training camp are done. With the Buffalo Bills going into a new era with Joe Brady, fans are curious to see how they will perform without Sean McDermott on the sideline.
The Bills’ schedule was released on Thursday night, showing fans that the NFL is giving the Bills a tough task right out of the gate. In Week 1, they head down to Houston to take on the Texans. Then they have a three home game stretch that features the Lions, Chargers, and Patriots.Â
Finally, they head out west for a Monday night battle with the Los Angeles Rams before having to play a second game on the west coast against the Raiders.
While the beginning of their schedule is brutal, John Breech from CBS Sports pointed out one thing that is in Buffalo’s favor at a crucial time of the season.
Bills catch massive break at end of their 2026 schedule
Breech broke down one good and one bad thing about each team’s 2026 schedule and the Bills’ one good thing was the fact that in the last two weeks of the season, they take on the Miami Dolphins and the New York Jets, who are destined to some of the worst teams by the time the season is wrapping up.
"The Bills get to close the season with games against the Dolphins (Week 17) and Jets (Week 18). Those feel like two very winnable games and if the Bills are battling for a division title or a high playoff seed, then winning those two games could certainly help their cause." said Breech.
In Week 17, they will travel to Miami to take on the Dolphins which gets them out of the cold weather but it doesn’t put them in the scorching heat of south Florida either. It’s clear that the Dolphins are looking to build for the future despite them extending running back De’Von Achane.
In the last week of the regular season, the Bills will be at home to host the New York Jets. These two teams met in Week 18 last season and despite it being a game of backups playing, Buffalo won 35-8 in a dominating fashion.
The end of the season is crucial for all teams who are either trying to lock up a playoff seed, or just trying to get into the playoffs. We could be looking at a scenario where the Bills could be fighting for a top seed in the AFC playoffs and depending on who they are fighting it for, Buffalo has the advantage of taking on two of the worst teams in the league.
When the pressure turns up on the league at the end of the regular season, teams are looking for any kind of advantage and the Bills certainly have two of them.
