Josh Allen may have come up short in the NFL MVP race in 2025, but the ratings gurus at EA Sports still see him as one of the top players in the league. The Buffalo Bills star earned an overall rating of 99 for the second consecutive year.
Only five other players are members of Madden's "99 Club" this season. Los Angeles Rams quarterback and reigning MVP Matthew Stafford was the only other quarterback to make the cut. Ja'Marr Chase, Myles Garrett, Trey McBride, and Jaxon Smith-Njigba joined Allen and Stafford at the top.
Bills fans don't need Madden ratings to tell them how talented Allen is, but the recognition as one of the top six players in football doesn't hurt. If the 30-year-old quarterback continues to play at that 99-overall level, Buffalo will once again compete for a Super Bowl appearance.
Madden 99 Club is the latest notch in Josh Allen's belt
Allen has completed the grand tour of Madden accomplishments. He was on the cover of Madden 24, and he's now a multi-time member of the prestigious 99 Club. To be fair, it would be hard to give a 6'5" quarterback with an unlimited arm and the rushing ability of Cam Newton any other rating.
With an MVP award already in his trophy case, Allen doesn't need any other individual accomplishments to cement his legendary career. It's all about team success for the Bills' quarterback.
Fans in Buffalo know all too well how the superstar quarterback has come up just short in the playoffs throughout his career. For the most part, those postseason losses haven't been Allen's fault. He's been in multiple shootouts where his defense has failed to produce needed stops.
But last season offered perhaps his best chance at a Super Bowl appearance, and he wasn't at his best. Allen threw two interceptions and lost two fumbles in the overtime loss to the Denver Broncos.
That loss kick-started the offseason overhaul that has dominated Buffalo's news cycle over the last six months. Heading into the 2026 season, the Bills are once again expected to compete for the top spot in the AFC, this time under a new head coach.
Receiving a rating of 99 overall in Madden is nothing to turn your nose up at, but it won't mean much for Allen. The Bills quarterback is more focused on bringing a Lombardi Trophy to Buffalo for the first time in franchise history.
