The Buffalo Bills are back in action this Sunday when they host the struggling Los Angeles Chargers. Buffalo comes into this game not just as the better team, but with extra rest and preparation since they played on Thursday night in Week 2 against the Detroit Lions.

The Chargers are still looking for their first win after dropping two home games against the Arizona Cardinals and Las Vegas Raiders. Their offense looks like a mess under Mike McDaniel and Justin Herbert is not playing like the quarterback we know he can be.

Sure, Buffalo’s defense is still going through some growing pains under Jim Leonhard, but I believe that Buffalo’s defense has the advantage over LA’s offense based on what we have seen the last two weeks.

Heading into this matchup, the Bills obviously need to bring their A-game, considering that it is now an unexpected trap game. However, Buffalo should be able to handle the Chargers with ease if their defense can achieve one single goal.

Bills' defense has 1 key task to accomplish in Week 3 against Chargers

The Chargers’ offense has been primarily the problem as to why LA is struggling, and turning the ball over is playing a big role. They have turned the ball over five times so far (two times against the Cardinals, three times against the Raiders).

Herbert has thrown three interceptions, and he's also fumbled the ball three times. In addition running back Omarion Hampton had fumbled the ball twice. Ball security can make or break a game, and it's got the best of the Chargers, which is a major factor as to why LA is coming into Week 3 at 0-2.

As for Buffalo's defense, they have two takeaways on the year with both coming in Week 1 against the Houston Texans. It was OLB Greg Rousseau who had two strip sacks on C.J. Stroud, including the game-winner late in the 4th quarter to secure the win.

Turnover battle will play key role in Bills' outing vs. Chargers

You don’t see a lot of teams lose when they win the turnover battle. It doesn’t always happen, but it’s more common as a result and that’s what Jim Leonhard and the Bills’ defense has to focus on.

The Chargers are already playing sloppy football on offense. If the Bills can force turnovers early on, they will put LA in a position where they will have to abandon their game plan and play desperate football.

With the way that the Chargers' offense hasn't been able to produce through the passing game, they could easily rely on Omarion Hampton to provide the spark for the offense. If the Bills are able to take away the rushing attack, that's going to put Herbert in a tough spot and with the way he's playing, Buffalo's defense should be able to capitalize on that.
