The most embarrassing loss that took place in Week 2 involved the Los Angeles Chargers, who the Buffalo Bills will be hosting this coming Sunday in Orchard Park. The Chargers lost at home for the second consecutive week to a team that should have had no business beating LA.
They dropped their second game against the Las Vegas Raiders, just one week after losing to the Arizona Cardinals in Week 1. The Chargers now will fly across the country with an 0-2 record to take on a tough Bills team whose offense looks unstoppable at this point.
The Chargers haven't won in Buffalo since 2018 which was Josh Allen's rookie season. The Bills are looking to get their second win in their new stadium after winning 41-31 in Week 2 against the Detroit Lions. Both teams look completely different heading into this matchup, but the Bills still have to bring their A-game even the Chargers look lost.
Chargers' Week 2 offensive approach may have given Bills insight on what they can expect
Heading into this season, a lot of people were expecting Chargers running back Omarion Hampton to become a focal point in Mike McDaniel's offense. Through the first two games, Hampton has managed to reach the endzone in each game and while he struggled a bit against the Cardinals, he was able to get 23 touches for 92 yards and a score.
Kris Rhim, who covers the Chargers on ESPN talked about Hampton's 23 carries was a career-high for him and that the offense "will lean on him this year."
"Trend to watch: Omarion Hampton had a career-high 23 carries for 92 yards and a touchdown. It was the first clear indication that the Chargers will lean on him this season. McDaniel has said previously that he would split the workload between the three backs: Hampton, Keaton Mitchell and Kimani Vidal. But through the first two games, it has been clear that this is Hampton's backfield." said Rhim.
Bills must prepare for Omarion Hampton going into Week 3 showdown
In Week 1 against the Texans, the Bills’ run-defense allowed the Houston Texans to rush for 124 yards and 2 touchdowns. Then in Week 2 in their home opener against the Lions, the Bills did a great job at limiting Detroit to just 66 total rushing yards. Now granted, with the Lions going down big early on, it was tough for them to establish a running game.
It's clear that with the way Justin Herbert is performing, the way that the pass protection has been, and the limited wide receiver help outside of Ladd McConkey, the Chargers could be depending on Hampton to provide an offensive spark against the Bills.
Buffalo's defense is going through growing pains as they still have some things to clean up. However, they have done enough in each of their two games. Now with the preview of Hampton getting a lot of carries against the Raiders, the Chargers could very well be looking to make him the entire offense against the Bills.
