The only thing worse than a fan’s favorite team missing out on top free agents, is seeing those top free agents going to a bitter rival, whether it’s in the division or the conference. When it comes to the Buffalo Bills, their biggest challenge they have yet to overcome is the Kansas City Chiefs.

We could talk about the history between these two teams, but all it reminds us is the heartbreak that the Chiefs have done to the Bills this past decade. I’m sure the Chiefs are okay with losing in the regular season to the Bills because when it comes to the playoffs, they always come out as winners, whether it’s in Buffalo or Kansas City.

While teams like the Bengals and Ravens have given the Bills trouble at various times over the years, Buffalo’s biggest headache happens when they face the Chiefs in the playoffs. The Chiefs have had a underwhelming offseason, both in free agency and the draft. Quite frankly, they don’t have a ton of firepower going into 2025 as of right now. However, them having Patrick Mahomes under center is pretty much all that they need.

With the draft being over and the biggest part of free agency having passed us, we are entering a time in the offseason where there are still plenty of free agents available for teams to sign. The Bills made one quickly after the draft with the signing of wide receiver Elijah Moore to a one-year deal.

There is one free agent that is still available who can provide an impact for any team. Running back Nick Chubb has spent the last seven seasons with the Cleveland Browns but has only played in ten games over the last two seasons due to various injuries. He’s only played in two full seasons in his career but he has been such an impactful player that there has to be a team that is willing to take a chance on him.

However, Bills fans have to hope that Chubb doesn’t land in a spot that CBS Sports’ Cody Benjamin has listed as a perfect fit for Chubb.

CBS Sports lists Chiefs as a perfect landing spot for Nick Chubb

In addition to the Chiefs, Benjamin also listed the Bears and Broncos as ideal landing spots for Chubb. However, if Chubb is looking to go ring-chasing then the Chiefs are the spot to be for him and that would be a bit of a nightmare for the Bills.

At this point, we are always expecting a Chiefs vs. Bills playoff matchup and if the Bills were to not only have to deal with Mahomes but also deal with Chubb, then defense for Buffalo would be in for a long game.

When healthy, Chubb is one of the most physical running backs that the league has and he was the offense for Cleveland for a very long time. From 2019-2022, Chubb ran for four consecutive 1,000+ yard seasons which included 40 rushing touchdowns during that span. His glory years are more than likely behind him, but he can still be a contributor in an offense where he doesn’t have to be the main go-to guy.

Putting him in Kansas City makes the Chiefs dangerous in the rushing attack that already has Isiah Pacheco, who is a physical runner himself as well. While the Bills did make building up the defensive line a priority, their run-defense has not been great in recent memory and having to face the Chiefs with Nick Chubb could put them into a world of trouble.
