We are two months away from the NFL Draft live from Green Bay, Wisconsin and the Bills have to find a way to hit on their draft picks. General manager Brandon Beane hasn’t been as effective in the first round of the draft but has managed to find some gems in later rounds.
Since joining the Bills, Beane has managed to draft players like Josh Allen, Tremaine Edmunds, Ed Oliver, and Greg Rousseau. The Bills still have three of those four players on the roster, but the rest of their draft picks are either up in the air on how they turned out or have become busts.
Cornerback Kaiir Elam has become a bust for the Bills and it’s too early to tell how Dalton Kincaid will be. We will get a better understanding going into his third season.
Beane has hit and missed on draft picks, much like any GM in the league. However, with the Bills have a tough situation with their salary cap, it’s important to bring in the right rookies who show promise for the future (both immediately and long-term).
Latest CBS Sports NFL mock draft has Bills going in wrong direction in round one
Mike Renner from CBS Sports posted a 2025 NFL mock draft with the Super Bowl being over and Renner has the Bills drafting a position of need that they don’t need to address, atleast in the first round. Renner has the Bills selecting safety Nick Emmanwori out of South Carolina.
"Nick Emmanwori is the kind of tone-setter at safety who the Bills have been missing. At more than 220 pounds, Emmanwori can still cover ground and lay the boom."Mike Renner, CBS Sports
With all due respect, the Bills don’t need a safety at all. They are going to have Cole Bishop and Taylor Rapp for next year and it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Bills bring in another veteran through free agency. However, if the Bills wanted to draft a safety in the later rounds then that is completely fine.
In the first round though, Bills fans would be very upset. Emmanwori is a physical player who can play great run-defense. In the past couple of seasons, the Bills have had issues at tackling when a runner breaks through to the second and third level. While adding Emmanwori’s physicality would be nice, it’s not a big need whatsoever.
