Bills could still make another huge splash at WR after D.J. Moore trade

More after Moore.

The Buffalo Bills have already made a blockbuster trade to fill one of their biggest needs of the 2026 offseason, maybe the biggest need. The trade to add DJ Moore to the wide receiver room gives the Bills a proven playmaker who has experience in Joe Brady's offense from their time together in Carolina, but even after getting Moore, there's more on the table for the Bills in NFL Free Agency.

The Bills can still use DJ Moore's contract to add $17.7 million in salary cap space, and with that space, they should still be looking to sign veteran free agent Mike Evans, who is expected (at this point) to leave the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Evans has played his entire NFL career with the Bucs up to this point, but the bill has come due on a lot of other players for the Bucs, and they may have to say goodbye to a franchise legend. And even though he was hurt for a good chunk of last season, he could still be a great weapon for Josh Allen.

Bills still need to target Mike Evans in NFL Free Agency after DJ Moore trade

Even with Moore and his contract, and even with Khalil Shakir and his contract, the Bills can add plenty of cap space to be able to fit Mike Evans into their plans for 2026 and possibly the next few seasons.

Evans is one of the best "X" receivers in the NFL, and would complement what the Bills already have on their roster nicely. Plus, he's played in a lot of big games in his NFL career and helped the Bucs win the Super Bowl during the 2019 season.

Evans's body of work speaks for itself. Until the injury-shortened 2025 season, he had over 1,000 yards receiving every single year of his NFL career, dating back to 2014 when he was drafted. He's averaged over 1,200 yards per 17 games over the course of his 12 NFL seasons, and has 103 career touchdown receptions.

At the age of 32, going on 33, Evans's most dominant years are likely behind him, but that doesn't mean he's not worth adding at this point. He can still play at a high level and may even be able to be a 1,000-yard player again with the right quarterback.

Enter Josh Allen.

The Bills could still go after a number of receivers in free agency. They've been named as a possible landing spot for players like Alec Pierce, Romeo Doubs, Rashid Shaheed, and others. It just feels like the DJ Moore move was the tip of the iceberg, or at least just the appetizer.
