Bills' run-defense puts up phenomenal stat against Seahawks in first half
By Brandon Ray
One of the Buffalo Bills’ biggest weaknesses coming into their Week 8 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks was their run defense. They have given up no less than 89 rushing yards in a game this season, in which four of those games they gave up 100+ yards. It also doesn’t help that they have had to deal with injuries on the defensive line with Ed Oliver and now losing DeWayne Carter for at least four games.
The Seahawks on the other hand have established a decent rushing attack, rushing for over 100 yards in five of their seven games. Coming into this game against the Bills, the duo of Kenneth Walker and Zach Charbonnet have rushed for 504 yards through seven weeks.
There was major concern for the Bills’ defense and how they would be able to stop this attack. However, Sean McDermott and Bobby Babich started off fantastic against the run in the first half of Week 8. Not only did the run defense show up big time, they put up their best statistics against a rushing attack for the first time since 2010.
According to the Buffalo Bills PR X account, the Bills had held the Seahawks to just one rushing yard in the first half, making it the 2nd-fewest rushing yards the Bills have allowed in the first half of a game since 2010 in Week 17 against the Indianapolis Colts (-11 yards).
Buffalo Bills defense came up big time in the 1st half
The Bills were already at a massive advantage with Seahawks’ star wideout DK Metcalf being ruled out this week due to a knee injury sustained last week. Now they have managed to shut down the Seahawks’ rushing attack which could have been a true x-factor for their offense.
Instead, Buffalo created a great plan to take away a comfort level for the Seahawks. The defense has made Seattle make mistakes and did not allow a single touchdown in the first half.
