As long as the Buffalo Bills have Josh Allen under center and in his prime, it’s extremely tough to say that they won’t be one of the best teams in the league every year. Even with them losing the AFC East last year to the New England Patriots, they still managed to go 12-5 despite going through injuries and playing some bad football.
Now that the Bills made changes in the coaching staff with going from Sean McDermott to Joe Brady, there is both optimism and a bit of nervousness, and that is totally okay. At the same time, the expectations for the Bills haven't changed and they certainly won't anytime soon.
Bills still expected to be one of NFL's best teams after 2026 regular season
Lou Scataglia from NFL Spin Zone recently put together a prediction of the 5 best teams once the 2026 regular season ends, basically guessing who will be at the top of the league by the time the playoffs roll around. Scataglia has the Bills placed at No. 3, only beind the Lions and Rams, putting the Bills on top of the AFC.
"Buffalo has suffered playoff heartbreaks in just about every possible fashion, and one would think that their playoff fate may change in 2026 with a new head coach. Joe Brady was promoted from within the organization, so he does have familiarity with the organization. Given how stable and successful this team has been for years now, it would take a lot for Buffalo not to win a ton of games." said Scataglia.
"If this is even a thing, Brady may not even have that tough a spot in 2026. Josh Allen is still at the peak of his powers, and while the defense struggled to stop the run in 2025, the unit was plenty good enough to get Buffalo into the Divisional Round." Scataglia added.
Change can be scary, but when it comes to the Bills, it was necessary. They get the best of both worlds with change and continuity, as Joe Brady will now be leading the team after taking over the offense in the middle of the 2023 season.
They also brought in a young and up-and-coming defensive mind in Jim Leonhard, who knows what the atmosphere is like in Buffalo from when he was a player. In addition, the Bills made great additions on both sides of the ball, which includes a true No. 1 receiver in DJ Moore.
The expectations for the Bills won’t change as long as Allen is in his prime, and that shouldn’t end for awhile moving forward.
