Josh Allen is one of, if not the best quarterback in the NFL. Whether you are a fan of the Buffalo Bills or not, everyone knows that when a team is getting ready to take on the Bills, Allen is going to be a problem and most of the time, Allen can’t be stopped.

Some may even argue that Allen is on his way to be one of the best of all-time, which is not a bad take at all. When you look at what Allen has accomplished with the Bills, and how he has done it with limitations within his supporting cast over the years. He can run, pass, and even catch passes for touchdowns. Without him, the Bills are nowhere near that powerhouse status that they currently have.

While every team is always hoping that they have a franchise quarterback for the future, the only down part is when it’s time to pay them because the market value continues to rise every year. Allen has received two contracts since his rookie deal back in 2018, which includes his $55 million per year deal that he got last offseason.

With him winning the MVP award in 2024, Allen deserved a new deal from the Bills. While $55 million per year definitely is a lot, the deal truly is a bargain when you compare it to what other quarterbacks are making who don’t have the overall talent that Allen has.

Josh Allen's deal continues to be massive bargain entering 2026

Lou Scataglia from NFL Spin Zone ranked the best quarterback contracts going into the 2026 season at this moment, and Allen’s contract came up as the third best out of the four listed. Here is the order from Scataglia:

4.) Baker Mayfield ($33.3 million per year)

3.) Josh Allen ($55 million per year)

2.) Lamar Jackson ($52 million per year)

1.) Sam Darnold ($33.5 million per year)

"Even at $55 million per season, Josh Allen's contract is a bit of a steal. He's helped lead the Buffalo Bills to the playoffs every year since 2019, and has also won double-digit games each year since then. He's one of the best dual-threat passers of all-time, and while it's evaded him, there is always a chance that the Bills do make a Super Bowl run." said Scataglia.

"The highest paid quarterbacks in the NFL are making $60 million per year and more, so Allen in the mid-50s is quite the deal." Scataglia added.

According to Spotrac, Allen currently makes the same amount of money per year as Trevor Lawrence, Joe Burrow, Jordan Love, and Matthew Stafford. The only quarterback that is in the same tier as Allen at this point is Stafford.

Then you have Patrick Mahomes and Dak Prescott who are both making $60 million-plus. Mahomes and Allen have been compared with each other since 2020 so seeing Mahomes making more money than Allen is no surprise. But then you look at other quarterbacks who are in the same ballpark as Allen’s deal and it’s unreal.

Per Spotrac, Brock Purdy is making $53 million per year, Justin Herbert is making $52.5 million per year, and  Jared Goff is at $53 million per year. While each of these quarterbacks have certainly made their mark in the league, they are nowhere near what Allen has been able to do. Sure, Purdy has been to two Super Bowls, but he has also had the best overall roster out of all these quarterbacks.

While the Bills are certainly paying Allen big time money, he deserves it as long as he plays at the level he is currently at. Each year that Allen thrives and carries the Bills, the deal looks more like a bargain every single year.
