The first round of the NFL Draft is over and now all of the attention turns towards the second and third round of the draft that will kick off tonight at 7PM. With the Buffalo Bills making three trades last night that eventually ended up with them getting out of the first round, the Bills will now be selecting at No. 35 and overall, they added two additional draft picks for the remainder of the draft.
The first round started out as expected with QB Fernando Mendoza going first overall to the Las Vegas Raiders. After that, anything was possible. Some teams made trades to move back (like the Bills), while some moved up and even back into the first round (Jets and Titans). The first round was a ton of fun and going into the second round tonight, the fun should get even bigger.
Before the draft frenzy kicks off later tonight, it’s important for Bills fans to know who Buffalo will be going up against in 2026 from this draft class. We have selected five notable first round picks that will face the Bills this coming season. While we don't know when the Bills will face them yet, we know who they will be going up against.
5 notable first round selections that will face Bills in 2026
QB Fernando Mendoza - Las Vegas Raiders (No. 1)
Mendoza may not be the present answer for the Raiders, but he certainly is the future of Las Vegas. The Raiders had signed Kirk Cousins this offseason to be the mentor for Mendoza, but we have seen scenarios play out where the rookie comes in for the struggling veteran. It already happened to Cousins in Atlanta with Michael Penix Jr. Maybe it happens now with Mendoza.
EDGE David Bailey - New York Jets (No. 2)
David Bailey should be a player that the Bills will see immediately on the field. Being the second overall pick going to the Jets, Bailey should step into Aaron Glenn’s defense and try to provide a pass rush that the Jets couldn’t produce last season.
CB Mansoor Delane - Kansas City Chiefs (No. 6)
When the Chiefs traded up from No. 9 to No. 6 and decided to select CB Mansoor Delane out of LSU, it sent a bit of shock waves across the NFL worlds. Delane is by far the best corner in this class, so Kansas City has that benefit. Then again, them trading up to get him while he most likely would have been available at No. 9 was surprising. He will be the replacement for Trent McDuffie, who the Chiefs traded to the Rams this past offseason.
TE Kenyon Sadiq - New York Jets (No. 16)
The Jets made three draft picks in the first round, and selecting tight end Kenyon Sadiq was by far their best selection. He is an extremely athletic tight end who can line up anywhere and make plays down the field. Combining him with Mason Taylor in this Jets offense, they may have something cooking for the future.
DT Peter Woods - Kansas City Chiefs (No. 29)
As part of the McDuffie trade listed above, the Chiefs held the 29th pick that they acquired from the Los Angeles Rams and decided to spend it on Clemson defensive tackle Peter Woods. With Chris Jones getting older and the Chiefs needing to get younger, Woods will now have the chance to learn from him and potentially become a problem for the Bills for years to come.
