It is such a great feeling to know that this coming Sunday night, the Buffalo Bills will be taking the field to officially kick off their 2025 season. They will be welcoming in the team that delivered a beatdown to them in Week 4 last season, but then Buffalo got the last laugh in the playoffs; the Baltimore Ravens.
Bills Mafia will be watching from their homes and in Highmark Stadium under the lights, and it’s going to be a thrilling game between these two top AFC teams.
The Ravens took care of business against the Bills in the regular season last year, winning 35-10. Buffalo then followed up with sending the Ravens home in the playoffs with a 27-25 win and advancing to the conference title game. The Ravens are out for revenge and the Bills are looking to make a statement to kick off their season.
4 bold predictions for Bills vs. Ravens in Week 1
Josh Allen has 350+ total yards
Between the two meetings last season with both of these teams, Josh Allen had 348 total yards. In Week 4, Allen had 180 yards through the air and 21 yards on the ground. Then in the divisional round, he had just 127 yards in the air and 20 yards on the ground.
The Ravens are a physical defense and can limit a team’s best opponent for sure. However, Allen is coming into this season as the NFL’s best player and with a lot of continuity coming back in front of him on the offensive line and James Cook getting his extension, Allen will have the chance to shine rather than carry the Bills all by himself.
This Sunday night, look for Allen to make the biggest impact and have no less than 350 scrimmage yards.
Greg Rousseau leads Bills in sacks
Everyone seems to be forgetting about Greg Rousseau getting his extension this past season, setting himself up to keep growing with the Bills. Even with the signing of Joey Bosa, Rousseau is still the future in Buffalo coming off the edge and he takes the next step forward this coming year.
There’s no better start than against a tough opponent in the Ravens to wreck a game and sack Lamar Jackson multiple times.
Bills’ secondary heavily struggles
The Bills’ run defense? It saw a lot of improvement and the Bills should be one of the league’s best teams in stopping the run. Now, the pass defense? That’s a different story. Buffalo’s secondary is going to struggle this season. Maybe they will have some shining moments but they are the weakness of the team.
With Max Hairston and Tre’Davious White dealing with injuries, and the safeties behind Taylor Rapp showing too much inconsistency, this secondary does not look promising. If they don’t bring their A-game against the Ravens, Lamar Jackson and his receiving core could have a lot of fun through the air.
Derrick Henry has 50 or less total yards
With Buffalo revamping their defensive line, being tasked to contain and maybe even stop Derrick Henry is the perfect first test. Coming off a fantastic first season as a member of the Ravens, Henry earned himself a new contract extension this offseason and now he will be looking to help Baltimore’s offense be dominant once again.
However, Week 1 won’t be the first dominant game he has. The Bills will have a lot of rotation going on upfront in the trenches so there should be no one that is too tired to try and stop Henry.
If Henry is limited against Buffalo, that sets up the defense to put pressure on Lamar Jackson to win the game.
