The final preseason game for the Buffalo Bills kicks off tonight at 7:30PM EST where they will take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers down in Florida. The Bills are 0-2 and while it would be nice to finish not 0-3, the two main goals that this team should have is seeing more competitiveness and leaving completely healthy.
Head coach Sean McDermott has already said Josh Allen won’t play in the final preseason game, making it the first time Allen won’t take a snap in the preseason of his career, per Joe Buscaglia. I understand why, but Allen should’ve atleast been on the field for one drive just to get any rust off he may have.
This game could be the final one that players are apart of as members of the Bills as the coaching staff and front office will decide who will be part of the final 53-man roster.
As Bills fans are watching the final preseason game, they should be on the lookout for these four players who still have a slim chance at making the final roster.
Bills fans need to watch these 4 players in final preseason game
S Darrick Forrest
I’ll be the first to admit, I believe that Darrick Forrest was going to make an impact with the Bills early on. He was a solid player early on with the Washington Commanders, but injuries played a role into his departure from Washington and Buffalo was able to sign him to a one-year deal.
However, it’s been a quiet summer for Forrest and quite frankly, the safety room for the Bills has been affected with injuries and inconsistency. Tonight’s game against Tampa could be Forrest’s last chance to earn a roster spot.
WR KJ Hamler
The wide receiver room in Buffalo is getting a little confusing at this point. We know that guys like Khalil Shakir, Keon Coleman and Joshua Palmer are locks. However, you can make the argument that other slots are open for the rest of the group. One player that has shown signs of flashes this offseason is KJ Hamler.
Quite frankly, he’s been better than Elijah Moore who was brought to Buffalo right before the summer to help open up the playbook a little bit. Instead, he’s been a bit of a disappointment through the first two games.
If Hamler can have a strong finish to end the preseason, he may find himself on the final roster.
CB Ja’Marcus Ingram
With Tre’Davious White going down with an injury and Max Hairston still dealing with his prior to the start of preseason, the Bills may want to consider having extra defensive backs for the regular season. That’s where someone like Ja’Marcus Ingram, who has experience in this Bills defense can make a push for a roster spot.
WR Elijah Moore
Like stated above, Moore has not shown any potential on what he can bring to this offense. He’s had just one catch through the first two games and there is an argument to be made that he isn’t a lock to make the final roster. Now granted, he hasn’t been catching passes from Josh Allen.
At the same time, if he goes catchless against the Buccaneers, his tenure in Buffalo could be much shorter than Bills fans may have anticipated.
