For the past two offseasons, the Buffalo Bills have faced criticism about not having an elite talent at wide receiver. However, that doesn’t seem to matter seeing as how the Bills had one of the best offenses in the league despite not having a true No. 1 receiver.

Ever since Brandon Beane took over as general manager in Buffalo, the Bills have not selected a wide receiver in the first round of the NFL draft. As a matter of fact, they have only selected an offensive player in the first twice; Josh Allen in 2018 and Dalton Kincaid in 2023.

Wide receiver Keon Coleman was selected in the second round in 2024 by the Bills, but yet he was their first draft selection.

While the Bills believe that they have their wide receiver room ready to go heading into this season, Beane and his staff will have to keep an eye out on the talent at the college level. It’s their job to do some scouting and see who could be potential great fits for Buffalo.

Latest 2026 NFL mock draft has Bills acquiring a new weapon for Josh Allen

Field Yates from ESPN put together an early 2026 NFL mock draft just in the first round, and Yates has the Bills selecting USC wide receiver Ja’Kobi Lane at No. 32 overall. Here’s what Yates said Lane:

"Lane caught 12 touchdowns last season after just seven total catches in 2023. He is a fluid mover and displays very good route running and comfort catching the football inside and outside his frame. Lane also showed some contested catch ability and toughness in the middle of the field on the tape. Josh Allen would approve."

Lane showed a lot of promise last season and the 2025 season could be a big one for him if he does declare for the NFL draft next year. At 6-foot-4 and 200lbs, Lane would be another big receiver for the Bills. So you would have Lane, along with Keon Coleman and Joshua Palmer who are big receivers too. That right there would be a fantastic supporting group for Josh Allen.
