Bills Mafia can enjoy a Victory Monday with the Buffalo Bills getting a tough 30-20 win in Indianapolis. For the first time since 1993, the Bills are 8-2 and for the first time since 1998, the Bills won in Indianapolis. It’s a great feeling and there is a lot of momentum going into a Week 11 showdown against the only undefeated team left in the league, the Kansas City Chiefs.
There are a lot of takeaways from this win. Some good and some not so good. Regardless, a win is a win and the Bills are riding high with an 8-2 record and they can now focus all of their attention on the Chiefs as they come to Orchard Park next week.
From this game, there were four Bills players that shined in the win while there were two that struggled in some capacity.
Looking at the 4 winners and 2 losers for the Bills in Week 10
Winner: RB James Cook
The Bills rushing attack was not a disapointment against the Colts and fans can thank James Cook for that. Overall, Buffalo had 135 yards on the ground and Cook accounted for 80 yards himself along with a score. He averaged over four yards per carry and more importantly, he showed the team that he, not Ray Davis is the best weapon the Bills have in the backfield.
Even though it’s not a competition between Cook and Davis, the last few weeks have shown us that Davis may have been a little bit more valuable than Cook. Not only did Cook run all over the Colts, he also had a couple of hard hits to fight for extra yards. With this performance, Cook has a great amount of momentum going into next week.
Winner: K Tyler Bass
Coming off a 61-yard game winner last week, Tyler Bass continued his impressive performance. He went 3/3 on PAT kicks and 3/3 on field goal attempts. He was good from 27 yards, 29 yards, and 47 yards.
After concerns about confidence throughout the season, Bass has really turned things around and has shown that he is the guy the team and fans can rely on in critical moments.
Winner: CB Taron Johnson
The Bills started out hot on defense right from the literal start. After Buffalo’s offense punted the ball on their first possession, Joe Flacco took the snap on the Colts’ first play of the game, threw it to the left side of the field and Taron Johnson intercepted it and returned it for the first score of the game.
Johnson also had a couple of tackles, a sack, and two pass deflections on the day. After missing a good amount of the beginning of the season, Johnson’s presence on defense has really been impactful for the Bills and it showed once against the Colts.
Loser: DT Ed Oliver
The disappointing season of Ed Oliver continues on for another week. The Oliver we saw last year to who we see now are complete opposites. We knew that this matchup against Jonathan Taylor was going to be tough, but Oliver was nowhere to be found throughout the game. Another factor to add in is that the Colts’ starting center Ryan Kelly did not play and Oliver wasn’t able to take advantage of that.
The defensive line against the run has been Buffalo’s biggest liability this season and Oliver has been a liability more than an asset.
Loser: Josh Allen
Yes, I know Allen threw for 280 yards but he had two bad interceptions that basically brought the Colts back into the game. Not only that, but he had a couple of overthrows as well to guys like Dalton Kincaid and Khalil Shakir.
To be fair, it wasn’t his fault that both Amari Cooper and Keon Coleman didn’t play in this game. At the same time, the offense was struggling until the 4th quarter and it all started with Allen.
