The Buffalo Bills have taken a hold of their roster and made some big changes this offseason. Through free agency and the NFL Draft, the Bills have filled out their roster and training camp will be here before you know it (even though it doesn’t feel like it right now).

The Bills certainly don’t have a perfect roster, but they have improved it under a new coaching regime on paper. Up next is seeing what they can do on the field. Even though it all comes down to what is done on the field, there are three players on the roster where it doesn’t feel like they have a clear role on the team, leading them to potentially being release candidates for the Bills before the season starts.

We have listed three players that when the opportunity comes, Brandon Beane should be showing the door whether it’s because of how the roster turned out this offseason or because of the lack of a true role on the team.

Bills need to part ways with a few players but for different reasons

C Lloyd Cushenberry

Despite re-signing Connor McGovern to a new four-year deal, the Bills decided to sign Lloyd Cushenberry to a one-year deal after being released from the Tennessee Titans. Don’t forget either, the Bills also have Sedrick Van Pran-Granger on a rookie contract but he has not had the chance to play in a meaningful game from start to finish.

When it comes to Cushenberry, him coming to Buffalo should be a quick one-and-done deal, assuming that he’s on the final roster come Week 1. With Pran-Granger on his rookie deal for two more years and knowing the offense under Joe Brady, this puts Cushenberry in a tough spot to make the roster. I don't see the Bills keeping three centers on the roster, especially since Cushenberry is primarily a center.

WR Mecole Hardman Jr.

The Bills signed Mecole Hardman Jr. after the trade deadline last year, having little to no impact. Aside from one impressive kick return, Hardman missed time on the IR and he also had a couple of mistakes as well. Buffalo brought him back to the roster this offseason, but with the additions of DJ Moore, Skyler Bell, and Trent Sherfield to go with Keon Coleman, Joshua Palmer, and Khalil Shakir, it’s going to be tough for the Bills to create a roster spot for Hardman.

DE Javon Solomon

With the revamp of the defense and adding more players to help off the edge, Javon Solomon could be in a little bit of roster trouble and not have a guaranteed spot even as a depth player. While his special teams contributions could help him, Solomon hasn’t exactly been an impactful player the last two seasons with the Bills.

The entire defense is going to be closely watched this summer leading up to Week 1 and there’s going to be plenty of competition. With a new defensive scheme coming into play, Solomon is going to have to prove that he can adjust and be a quality rotational player now that Leonhard is running the show on defense.
