Safety

Starters: Micah Hyde, Jordan Poyer

Backups: Taylor Rapp, Damar Hamlin, Zayne Anderson, Jared Mayden

For the past six years, the Buffalo Bills starting safeties have been Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer after both joined the team as free agents in 2017. This offseason, it seemed likely that this duo would no longer be together with Poyer set to be a free agent.

However, the Bills were able to bring back Jordan Poyer on a two-year contract and the defense will have one of the best safety duos in the league for at least one more season.

In addition to Poyer returning, the Buffalo Bills also signed Taylor Rapp to a one-year deal. The former Los Angeles Rams safety has started 48 games over the past four seasons and gives the team a veteran backup. They also signed Zayne Anderson but he likely will be contributing more on special teams.

If Damar Hamlin is able to return this season after his scary injury against the Cincinnati Bengals, this position should be one of the most talented on the Buffalo Bills roster.
