Cornerbacks

Starters: Tre’Davious White, Kaiir Elam, Taron Johnson (nickel)

Backups: Dane Jackson, Christian Benford, Cam Lewis, Ja’Marcus Ingram, Kyler McMichael

The cornerback position is similar to the defensive line for the Buffalo Bills as there aren’t any notable changes at the position with Dane Jackson agreeing to a new one-year deal during free agency. However, the hope is that this group will be much improved over last season.

One of the big reasons is Tre’Davious White who is almost a year and a half removed from his ACL injury on Thanksgiving during the 2021 season. The former All-Pro cornerback missed over half the season last year as he rehabbed and once he came back he still didn’t appear to be at 100%.

If he is able to return to playing like one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL, it will be a big boost for this defense.

The other reason is hopefully Kaiir Elam takes that next step in his development entering the second year in the NFL. The former first round pick split snaps for most of the season with Dane Jackson and Christian Benford but he has the talent to be a full-time starter and this could be the year that happens.
