What Calais Campbell would bring to the Buffalo Bills

Any time a team adds a big-time player, how they will impact the off-field culture must be considered. In Buffalo, this is only magnified because of the Bills unique culture that extends well beyond just their play on the field.

Campbell is the type of player who would fit in exceptionally well in Buffalo. His off-field contributions include holiday shopping sprees for local kids, financial literacy lessons, his own youth football STEM Camp, and an impressive array of charity work. His generosity and community involvement make him the type of player that the Buffalo community would embrace.

On the field, and in the locker room, Campbell brings a history of leadership that has earned him respect throughout the league. Former Jaguars Coach Doug Marrone said of Campbell:

"“As a tenured veteran, Calais has made an impact everywhere he’s been during his football career, both inside the organizations he’s played for with his teammates, coaches and staff, as well as in the community with his neighbors. With every second of his free time, it seems like he’s always out in the city looking for a way to give back and make a difference. I’m honored to have had the privilege to coach a player and a man like Calais Campbell.”"

On the field, Campbell would add a great rotational piece who has experience at both Defensive End positions, and also experience at Defensive Tackle. He could be the insurance piece the Bills need to give Von Miller adequate time to rehab his knee following ACL surgery late last season, and provide mentorship for Gregory Rousseau and any young DE that they add in the draft.

The fit is obvious, but what it will come down to for the Bills is the cost.
