Buffalo Bills have already ruled out two key players on defense for Week 10

The focus around the Buffalo Bills has been on quarterback Josh Allen, who is dealing with an elbow injury. While head coach Sean McDermott described it as “hour-to-hour” for Josh Allen, he did rule two key players on defense out for Week 10 against the Minnesota Vikings.

Those two players are safety Jordan Poyer and defensive end Greg Rousseau, who has not practiced at all this week. Poyer is dealing with an elbow injury that forced him to miss last week’s game against the New York Jets. This will be his fourth missed game of the season after only missing two the previous five years in Buffalo.

As for Greg Rousseau, he suffered a high ankle sprain against the New York Jets and this will be his first missed game of the season. He has had an excellent year so far with five sacks and has taken a big step forward in his second season in the NFL.

Both players are key parts of this defense and their absence will be tough to replace. The Bills are likely to go with Damar Hamlin and Jaquan Johnson again at safety but at defensive end there are some questions. The team does have some options and will likely be either A.J. Epenesa or Boogie Basham replacing Rousseau this week.

Buffalo Bills have other players that might miss Week 10 against the Vikings

While the Bills have already ruled out two players, there are a number of players that have questions based on the practice reports this week. This group includes Josh Allen, Tremaine Edmunds, and Kaiir Elam with Allen and Edmunds not practicing at all Wednesday or Thursday and Elam being limited on Wednesday and not practicing on Thursday.

The Buffalo Bills will release their full injury report on Friday afternoon but it wouldn’t be surprising for some of these other players for a decision not to be made until just before game time on Sunday.
