Too many missed opportunities for the Buffalo Bills to overcome
This was the closest game the Buffalo Bills have played this season and while the injuries certainly played a factor, the Bills had plenty of opportunities to put this game away early in the game. The poor snap that resulted in no field goal attempt at halftime was just one of the examples.
In the second half, the Bills put together a great 20-play drive but struggled as they got close to the red zone and were forced to settle for a field goal. On their next drive, Tyler Bass would have another field goal attempt but this time miss it, his first miss of the season.
On the Dolphins’ next drive, they would score a touchdown to take the lead. However, there was a key mistake on that drive that allowed them to find the end zone. The Bills had the Dolphins facing a 3rd and 22 but Tua Tagovailoa was able to find Jaylen Waddle down the middle of the field to convert the first down and keep the drive alive.
It would be fair to question whether that play is made with Jordan Poyer or Micah Hyde back there at safety.
Then at the end of the game, with the Buffalo Bills inside the five-yard line, Josh Allen had a bad throw to Isaiah McKenzie that would have given the Bills the lead.
While the Buffalo Bills certainly have an excuse with all the injuries they had to deal with this week, they also didn’t do themselves favors on the field with some of these mistakes.
