6 key takeaways from the Buffalo Bills depth chart for Week 1
Buffalo Bills could make changes at running back on game day
In the past, the Buffalo Bills have typically only had three running backs active on game day with two players primarily playing running back, typically Devin Singletary and Zack Moss, and Taiwan Jones, who almost exclusively plays special teams.
While there was the potential for this to change this season, it was made clear by this depth chart that the Buffalo Bills are going to have four running backs active with Zack Moss ahead of James Cook.
Even with James Cook listed as the third running back, I believe he will have a much bigger role than Zack Moss this season. He is a versatile player and Ken Dorsey is almost certainly going to script plays throughout the course of the game to get him on the field. However, it might not only be at running back but lined up on the line of scrimmage as a wide receiver.
As for Moss, he has looked really good in the preseason, and as a bigger running back should be the short-yardage back and why the team will want four running backs active. This could mean limited snaps during the course of the game but one thing that is clear is that if Devin Singletary is forced to miss any time, it would be Moss who steps into that role as the featured running back and not Cook.
