Entering training camp, the Bills came in with four running backs who were likely competing for three spots. The odd man out was almost certainly going to be Zack Moss or Duke Johnson. However, entering the preseason it looks like Duke Johnson is the one behind Moss and has the most ground to make up.

Moss, who had a down year last season, has looked much better during training camp. Devin Singletary mentioned early in training camp that the injury from his rookie season had an impact last year, according to Dom Tibbetts with WKBW.

"“He’s getting back to himself. I think last year was tough for him coming off the injury. But this year he’s looking good,” said Singletary.”"

The hope for the Buffalo Bills was always that Zack Moss could bounce back and if he didn’t they had another option in Duke Johnson. The veteran running back, even if he plays well in the preseason, may not be able to do enough to move past Moss on the depth chart as long as Moss doesn’t take a step backward in the preseason.
