Buffalo Bills linebackers standing out in pass coverage

One day after Tremaine Edmunds came away with an impressive interception during practice, it was Terrel Bernard’s chance to stand out in coverage with this observation from Sal Capaccio.

When the Buffalo Bills drafted Terrel Bernard, this was considered one of the strengths and it is great to see that showing up in training camp. The addition of Bernard should give the Bills more flexibility in their defensive scheme as they have typically relied upon nickel formation.

However, with Bernard now on the defense the coaching staff may look to play more 4-3 defense. This could give the team more size up front to defend the run but not necessarily lose as much in pass coverage with Bernard, Matt Milano, and Tremaine Edmunds.

It is early in camp, and it will see how Bernard plays in the preseason, but it is probably likely there are more defensive plays this season with three linebackers on the field.
