5 players who are off to a great start at Buffalo Bills training camp
Cam Lewis
The backup cornerbacks for the Buffalo Bills have been one of the top storylines so far. There certainly could have been some concern with such an inexperienced group but Nick McCloud and Siran Neal are off to a great start to training camp.
In this group is Cam Lewis who may finally get a chance to make the 53-man roster at the start of the year. The former University of Buffalo cornerback has been with the Bills for most of the past two seasons but primarily on the practice squad.
He will get called up during the season and over the past two years had played in 12 games and had three starts. On Tuesday, Micah Hyde said that Cam Lewis was a player that was standing out to him during the start of camp.
The depth chart after Tre’Davious White, Kaiir Elam, Dane Jackson and Taron Johnson is wide open right now. The way McCloud, Neal and Lewis have started camp is going to make this one of the most competitive position battles during training camp but Lewis could have an advantage as he is a player that could backup both outside and inside as a nickel.
The way the cornerbacks have played early in training camp could be one of the reasons the Buffalo Bills didn’t feel the need to bring in a veteran at the position. It will be interesting to see how this battle plays out leading up to the season but Cam Lewis has put himself in a good position to get one of those 53 roster spots.
