Cornerback (6)

Kaiir Elam, Dane Jackson, Taron Johnson, Siran Neal, Nick McCloud, Cam Lewis

Cut: Olaijah Griffin, Tim Harris, Christian Benford, Travon Fuller, Ja’Marcus Ingram

PUP: Tre’Davious White

With Tre’Davious White’s recovery likely to last at least through the first month of the season, I think the Bills will keep some extra cornerback options. The guys who will open the season starting will likely be Dane Jackson, Kaiir Elam, and Taron Johnson.

After that trio, Siran Neal is a roster lock with his special teams contributions and versatility as a backup. I think the Buffalo Bills take Nick McCloud and Cam Lewis on the roster after both showed significant promise last preseason. Christian Benford is a guy to watch out for as he was drafted this season by the Bills, and Olaijah Griffin spent last season on the practice squad but did enough to earn a two-year deal during the offseason.

While many people predicted Buffalo would grab some help at the cornerback position, many thought it would be done through the signing of a veteran player. The Bills instead opted to go the younger route by picking two in the draft and bringing back many of the young promising rookies from last season. While White is still recovering, there could be concerns, but the more options at cornerback, the better off the Bills will be.
