Linebacker (5)

Tremaine Edmunds, Matt Milano, Terrel Bernard, Tyrel Dodson, Tyler Matakevich

Cut: Joe Giles-Harris, Baylon Spector, Marquel Lee

SUSP: Andre Smith

The Buffalo Bills return almost the same group as last season, but third-round pick Terrel Bernard replaces veteran AJ Klein. Tyrel Dodson has been a backup for two seasons, and Tyler Matakevich is a valuable special teams player.

Their roles likely will not be threatened by the trio of players listed as cut. However, there will be a chance for those cut players to make the roster with the suspension of Andre Smith. Last season the Bills kept six linebackers on the roster for most of the season. Smith was one of those players.

While I think Smith will be added to the roster once he serves his suspension, the door has opened for someone to take his spot for the first several weeks and possibly even beyond that. Joe Giles-Harris showed some promise last preseason but only ended up suiting up in two games for the Bills.

Rookie Baylon Spector out of Clemson is an intriguing option the Bills could look at not only for the roster but as a potential long-term replacement for Tremaine Edmunds if he is not resigned.
