Duke Johnson vs. Zack Moss

The Buffalo Bills brought in two running backs this offseason to join former third round picks Devin Singletary and Zack Moss. As for Singletary, he has solidified himself as the featured running back and James Cook, who was the second round pick by the Bills, will see most of his work as a pass-catching running back out of the backfield.

The Bills are unlikely to have more than four running backs on the roster and with Taiwan Jones a key part of the special teams unit, this will leave one roster spot left. It will set the table for a training camp battle between Duke Johnson, who was signed as a free agent this offseason, and Zack Moss.

Zack Moss had a promising rookie season but struggled last year, which could have been due to the lingering effects of an ankle injury suffered in the playoffs the year prior. General manager Brandon Beane said this offseason that he expects him to bounce back and if he plays well, he should get the spot.

However, if he struggles then Duke Johnson is a player that could be a good fit as that third running back behind Devin Singletary and Zack Moss. For most of his career, Johnson has primarily been viewed as a pass-catching running back but towards the end of last season with the Miami Dolphins, he showed he can also be the primary ball carrier for an offense.

This combination could be the right player for this backfield as he can be the replacement for Singletary or Cook if they are forced to miss time. However, right now Zack Moss should still be viewed as the favorite.
