Updated 53-man roster projection for the Buffalo Bills following minicamp
Wide Receivers (7)
Stefon Diggs, Gabriel Davis, Jamison Crowder, Isaiah McKenzie, Khalil Shakir, Jake Kumerow, Tavon Austin
The last time I put together these projections I had only six wide receivers but the Buffalo Bills may want to expand that to seven, which was the total they had at the start of last season. The beneficiary of adding another wide receiver is Tavon Austin.
The veteran was signed earlier this month and looked good during minicamp but he makes the roster because I believe he will be the team’s returner on kickoffs and punts this season. There isn’t a clear option and Austin has the most experience here.
It is worth noting that if these are the wide receivers that make the roster, the Buffalo Bills will be cutting a few recent draft picks at this position. That would include Isaiah Hodgins, who was a sixth round pick in 2020, and Marquez Stevenson, who was a sixth round pick last year.
This will be another position that should be very competitive during training camp with a number of players fighting over arguably only one or two spots that are up for grabs.
