Buffalo Bills Bold Prediction #4: Buffalo Bills will lead the league in sacks

Last year, the Buffalo Bills finished just outside the Top 10 in sacks with 42 and it was a team effort as the Bills had no defensive ends finish with double-digit sacks and only one player with over five.

The Bills made it a point this offseason to try and improve that. They believe they were able to by signing Von Miller to one of the biggest contracts in all of free agency. He is older and while he may not be the same player he was earlier in his career in Denver, Miller should have a major impact on this defense.

The reason I believe the Buffalo Bills will lead the league in sacks goes beyond just the totals Miller brings. His presence on this defense should help other players get favorable matchups that help them in this category.

Buffalo has a good group of young pass rushers led by Greg Rousseau and Boogie Basham on the edge that should take that next step. If they can do that, combined with Ed Oliver and the return of Jordan Phillips (who had 9.5 sacks in his final year with Buffalo) makes this one of the deepest defensive lines in the league.

The sack total is still going to be a team effort but it wouldn’t be surprising to see four or five players on this defense finish the year with over five sacks.
