Buffalo Bills 2023 Position Need: Safety

Another position that potentially can get addressed next offseason is safety. The Buffalo Bills have one of the top safety duos in the NFL with Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer, who have played together since joining the team in 2017 as free agents.

However, Poyer is entering the final year of his contract and is currently looking for a new deal. He has yet to appear at OTAs and the indication is that his absence is tied to not having a new deal.

If the Buffalo Bills don’t reach a new deal with Poyer, they will be looking for a new starting safety to place alongside Hyde. They have drafted players over the years like Jaquan Johnson and Damar Hamlin but similar to linebacker, it remains to be seen if they are ready to start.

If the Buffalo Bills aren’t ready to name one of those former draft picks as starters, this is a position that Buffalo could address in free agency or the NFL Draft.
