The Buffalo Bills are hoping for an improved pass rush this season and Sean McDermott is looking to the team’s young group of pass rushers

The Buffalo Bills made headlines this offseason when they were able to sign All-Pro Von Miller to a six-year contract. He is arguably the best pass rusher the team has had since Mario Williams and has the potential to dramatically change the defense.

On Tuesday before the team’s first OTA practice, Sean McDermott mentioned the position but instead specifically spoke about the three young players at the position. The team has used three picks in the first and the second round over the past two seasons on the position by drafting A.J. Epenesa in 2020 and Greg Rousseau and Boogie Basham last year.

The Bills’ head coach called it a ‘big offseason’ and the team is looking for them to make an impact this season, according to Jon Scott with Spectrum News.

Von Miller can play a big role in this for the Buffalo Bills on and off the field

One of the reasons that Von Miller was an excellent signing for this team is that he not only can make an impact on the field but also on the sideline. He has great experience and insight that he can provide to this young group of pass rushers, which was one of the reasons Brandon Beane was excited about this signing.

That was on display in the first OTA practice in this video tweeted by Matthew Bove that showed Miller working with Greg Rousseau.

Greg Rousseau had a promising rookie season where he started every game for this defense and finished with four sacks and 10 QB hits. However, he has the potential to be a double digit sack player and this coaching by Miller should help him get there.

The Buffalo Bills have some questions in the secondary with Tre’Davious White working back from injury and Kaiir Elam likely starting as a rookie. An improved pass rush should help this secondary, particularly early in the season.
