Buffalo Bills Draft Target: James Mitchell

The final tight end the Buffalo Bills have been linked to over the past few months is James Mitchell out of Virginia Tech. According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Bills had Mitchell in for a Top 30 visit.

Mitchell entered last season with high expectations after coming off a productive 2020 season where he had 435 receiving yards and four touchdowns. He was named preseason All-ACC but played only two games before suffering a season-ending knee injury.

He is an interesting player for the Buffalo Bills to be linked to because he doesn’t appear to be the prototypical tight end and could be more of a pass-catching H-back, similar more to Reggie Gilliam than as a potential replacement for Knox.

Mitchell moved around a bit early in his time with Virginia Tech and had four rushing touchdowns in his first year with the Hokies. While the Bills do value versatility, this is one pick that would be surprising if the Bills are looking for a tight end.
