Buffalo Bills’ This or That Round 3: James Cook (HB) or Leo Chenal (LB)?

In Round 3, the choice for the Buffalo Bills is between the brother of Dalvin Cook, James Cook out of Georgia; and the second choice is Leo Chenal out of Wisconsin.

If the Bills don’t select a running back in the first or second round, James Cook could be a good selection in Round 3.

While his ability to be a true RB1 is questionable, James Cook is basically a wide receiver playing running back. His ability to execute running back routes and be in the passing game is impressive.

And with the Bills already having a duo of middle-of-the-run halfbacks in Devin Singletary and Zack Moss, James Cook could join this offense as a receiving back and had Singletary and Moss battle it out for primary back.

However, Leo Chenal is a very intriguing prospect for the same reason Nakobe Dean is intriguing in the first round.

And Leo Chenal is an impressive prospect to say the least.

Both in the 2020 and 2021 seasons, Chenal flourished as a leader of the Wisconsin Badgers’ defense. In those two seasons, Chenal led the Badgers’ defense in both sacks and tackles for loss. Along with that, Chenal led the Badgers in total tackles in the 2021 season.

While the Big Ten isn’t often recognized as the top conference in college football, playing in that conference is a closer look to NFL talent than most conferences. It might not beat out the SEC, but it’s up there; so having clear success with Wisconsin should be praised as such.

Having Leo Chenal and Tremaine Edmunds in the middle of the field for years to come could be really beneficial for the Buffalo Bills’ defense, as it’s been less impressive than the offense has the last few seasons. Again, that would require Edmunds to re-sign, so it’s up in the air.

Now for the fourth pick. This or that?
