Buffalo Bills 2022 NFL Draft Prospect to Know: Cam Taylor-Britt

Cam Taylor-Britt played 40 games over four seasons with the Cornhuskers and finished with 140 total tackles, 10 tackles for a loss, 2.5 sacks, five interceptions and 22 passes defended. This past season he had only one interception but had 11 pass breakups in only 12 games.

"Compact, muscular zone corner with aggressive ball challenges but angles of attack that lead to troubling results. The size and traits are enticing, but he gives away too many yards due to poor pursuit angles. Taylor-Britt has the feet and athletic ability to pounce on throws when allowed to park and read play design from zone. He gets burned by double moves but showed off his impressive recovery speed at the NFL Scouting Combine. He has safety experience but lacks consistency as a tackler to be trusted at the position. Taylor-Britt has the tools to stick it out at cornerback, but feast/famine play creates a buyer-beware tag."

How Cam Taylor-Britt fits with the Buffalo Bills

One player that seems like a perfect match for the Buffalo Bills’ defensive scheme and what he can do is Cam Taylor-Britt. He has plenty of experience in zone coverage and while his tackling is a bit of a concern, it seems more due to the angles he takes versus a willingness to make the tackle. This is something that the coaching staff could work on as he develops.

As Zierlein notes, he does have some experience at safety, starting seven games at safety and three at cornerback as a sophomore in 2019. He primarily played cornerback the last two years with the Cornhuskers and this is where he would fit at the NFL level.

It is interesting to note that the NFL comparison that Lance Zierlein used for Cam Taylor-Britt, is current Buffalo Bills’ defensive back Siran Neal. He is a player that has moved around over the years but seems to be making a full-time shift to cornerback.

If the Buffalo Bills were to draft Cam Taylor-Britt, he is someone that could compete for the starting job but likely would be more of a depth addition for this season with Dane Jackson likely being the starting cornerback opposite Tre’Davious White.
