Buffalo Bills reportedly releasing offensive lineman Jon Feliciano

The Buffalo Bills continue the process of creating cap space this week and one day after releasing linebacker A.J. Klein, the team is reportedly releasing veteran offensive lineman Jon Feliciano according to Matt Parrino. He joined the team as a free agent in 2019 and earned one of the starting guard jobs right from the start, and would start every regular season game for the team that year.

Unfortunately, the past two seasons have not been as successful for Feliciano. In 2020, he would start the year on injured reserve after an injury shortly during training camp and would miss the first seven games of the season.

He would return to the starting lineup and play well enough down the stretch to earn a three-year contract last offseason. However, Feliciano once again struggled when on the field as well as being forced to injured reserve for the second straight season, this time due to a calf injury.

Upon his return, he was not able to regain a starting job and finished the year as the backup.

Buffalo Bills are now under the salary cap but with work still to do

According to Matt Bove, the move would free up about $3.4 million in cap space and combined with the release of A.J. Klein, the Buffalo Bills are now about $2 million under the salary cap. While this meets the league requirement that all teams must be under the salary cap by March 16th, it wouldn’t allow much room to sign any players in free agency.

This means that more moves are still likely ahead for the Bills and general manager Brandon Beane. One player to watch over the next few days would be Cole Beasley, who has been granted permission to seek a trade.

A trade of Beasley would free up about $6.1 million according to Spotrac and would be one move that could create a significant amount of cap space.
