Buffalo Bills Position of Need: Offensive Guard

The Buffalo Bills offensive line was shuffled frequently throughout the season until the team moved Ryan Bates into the starting lineup at guard with Daryl Williams as the other starting guard along with Mitch Morse, Spencer Brown, and Dion Dawkins. There is no question that these five players gave Buffalo the best blocking, both in terms of pass protection and run blocking.

While the coaching staff found a combination that worked, it would make sense for them to add to the position this offseason. The first decision will be whether or not to bring back Ryan Bates, who is a restricted free agent. This would be a smart move and one that seems likely to take place over the next few months.

However, it shouldn’t be a situation where he is given the starting job but instead adding some competition that can elevate the performance of the interior of the offensive line and hopefully improve on the way this group finished last year.
