Buffalo Bills: Jordan Poyer, Micah Hyde finally receive All-Pro recognition

Since joining the Buffalo Bills in 2017, Jordan Poyer and Micah Hyde have been one of the best safety duos in the NFL. This unfortunately hasn’t resulted in many league awards as Micah Hyde has been the only one to be selected to the Pro Bowl while neither had been named All-Pros during this time period.

The good news is that this has finally changed as Jordan Poyer was named first-team All-Pro and Micah Hyde was selected second-team All-Pro for this season. Both players were certainly deserving as they have been key parts of the defense’s success this year.

Buffalo Bills safeties helped make this one of the best defenses in the NFL

The Buffalo Bills defense would finish first in points allowed (17.0), total yards allowed (272.8), and tied for second in turnovers (30). Hyde and Poyer contributed in a big way in all those categories, particularly the turnovers.

Both safeties would finish the year tied for the team lead in interceptions with five apiece and this would also be the fourth-highest total in the NFL. Micah Hyde would add two fumble recoveries to his turnover total. However, Poyer would finish the regular season with three sacks and be the only player in the NFL to have five or more interceptions and three or more interceptions.

These were just some of the stats that made it hard to believe that neither player was named to the Pro Bowl team. Both players have consistently played at a high level the past few seasons but seemingly were overlooked each year.

It is good to see that finally has come to an end and the Bills’ starting safeties will have a chance on Saturday night to continue to show why they are two of the best at their position when they play the New England Patriots.
